Our team of professional musicians

ivor setterfieldIvor Setterfield has conducted Barts Choir since 1996. He is the founder and Musical Director of the Trafalgar Sinfonia, and also directs the New London Singers. He has recorded a number of CDs with both groups. He appeared in his own television series, The Singing Estate, on Channel 5 and in BBC2’s Maestro. He mentored the DJ Goldie as he composed a classical piece for the 2009 Proms.

chris leeChris Lee is our rehearsal pianist. He performs at concerts as organist, continuo player and solo pianist. He writes, arranges and plays jazz at venues across London and beyond and has released CDs of his own arrangements.

Katie Thomas is our Assistant Conductor. Katie studied Choral Conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London.  She is much in demand as a conductor and a workshop leader.

The artistic director and conductor of The Constellation Club, her own professional orchestra & choir, as well as working as vocal coach/assistant chorus master to the BBC Symphony Chorus, and visiting conductor at Royal College of Music and the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain. Katie adjudicates at choral festivals worldwide for INTERKULTUR and tutors in conducting technique for the Association of British Choral Directors.

Recent highlights include appearing as guest conductor of the BBC Singers, in concert and in studio recordings, as well as making her international debut as chorus master of the MDR Rundfunkchor, of one of Germany’s premier professional choirs, at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig.

As a professional singer, Katie performed worldwide with The Monteverdi Choir (also as rehearsal assistant to Sir John Eliot Gardiner), Polyphony, the Academy of Ancient Music and Tenebrae at venues ranging from Wigmore Hall London to the Vienna Musikverein and Carnegie Hall, New York.

Running the choir

The work of the choir is undertaken by volunteers from the choir. The current trustees are:
